Denise Duncan, President

The City of Bunbury SLSC offers its seniors members (18 plus) the opportunity to connect with a great group of motivated people.

  • GET PHYSICALLY FIT

  • HAVE LOADS OF FUN

  • LEARN LIFESAVING SKILLS

  • CREATE NETWORK OF FRIENDS

  • BUILD TEAMWORK SKILLS

  • PERFORM A VITAL ROLE IN THE COMMUNITY

Senior members can participate in Sunday morning club activities that commence at 8.30am with a club swim and beach sprint as well as team activities. Weekly fun and fitness training in all disciplines is also available. These activities are fun ways to meet and share a common interest with others.

Our patrolling volunteer surf lifesavers patrol the Back Beach on weekends and public holidays between mid-October and April. Patrol times vary depending on the month of the year. We also patrol at Koombana Bay at a specified time on Sundays during the peak summer holiday times.

To become a patrolling lifesaver the first award you need to gain is the Surf Rescue Certificate or Bronze Medallion. The Bronze Course takes 6 to 8 weeks (approx. 4 hrs per week) to complete and includes the ability to swim in the surf, knowledge of rescue techniques with various equipment, first aid, resuscitation, and general life saving methodology.

Active patrol members are then placed onto a patrol roster and are asked to perform voluntary patrols for the Club. Members who perform patrols for the Club are eligible to compete in SLSWA surf life saving carnivals.

If you are not a member but might be interested in joining the club and/or becoming a lifesaver, get in touch so we can arrange a ‘come n try’ for you to see if surf lifesaving is for you.
